Happy Sunday to everyone! One week ago we were driving through the windy plains of Wyoming on our way here. So (almost) one week under our belts. Today was a great day as we were able to visit our new ward for the first time. We'd already met the bishop and his wife and one of the young single adults who helped us move in. Everyone was really nice but in a word, it was different. Church was held at the institute building on campus so the room isn't very big. And if the room wasn't big to begin with, you can imagine the number of people in it. It's little wonder why they seemed to be so excited when we said that we'd be here for 3 years. Everyone was really great though, so it's nice to feel welcomed and to have an instant support group should we need to rely on it. I was thinking about that the other day. No matter where you go, you have a ward there that you can rely on. What a blessing that is to us. Justin mentioned the other day that he feels like we're on an island. We came from having immediate family as close as a 20 or 30 minute drive. The closest family here is 5 hours, so we were feeling a little bit deserted. But however far away our family may be, we have a ward family who is here for us. We are truly grateful to have that.
Church was, as I said, very different. It was in the institute building in one of the classrooms, so there was no 'stand' or 'podium' of any kind. It reminded me of living overseas where we had to have church in our house with a limited number of people. It seems like it's mostly young single adults and just a few married couples. It'll be good to get to know everyone better over the next few weeks and months and find our niche.
After church we went to a BBQ with the other students from Justins program. It was really nice to be able to meet the people that are going to see him more than I will : ) The good news about that is that they are also all very nice people, or atleast they seemed to be today. It's back to the grind for Justin tomorrow...wahoo! We hope all of you are doing well. Thanks again to all of our family and friends for your support and love for us. We couldn't have done this without you!

One week down, 155 weeks to go! And besides Kathryn, you are used to church in weird places.
If you're looking for a niche at church, I recommend rabble rouser. They don't give callings to crazy people.
I hope all keeps going well. We love you and miss you. I hope school is okay for Justin. I hope you find a job to keep you busy. Good luck with everything we are always thinking of you.
